, Responsibilities

The Quality Engineering Leader resides in Whitehall Plant 3 and reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager. The Quality Leader provides Howmet Aerospace, Whitehall Casting with a quality focus in all of their employees through a commitment to comply with all internal and external requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to achieve product yield improvements, variation reduction, and achieve cost reduction goals related to the manufacture of ceramic cores/parts

  • Direct and manage the activities regarding part quality and customer expectations

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiative ensuring product development in accordance with overall customer requirements as well as ensuring an understanding of process capability and PFMEA based risk

  • Develop the overall plant first pass yield improvement plan and manage the actions that support that plan

  • Direct and participate in the conception, evaluation and implementation of cost improvement, product improvement and production problem solving activities

  • Establish professional working relationships with Engineering Managers & Quality Manager at each casting facility and promote team communication regarding product status and issues

  • Work directly with customer quality and engineering with the casting facility's engineering team to optimize part & tool qualification

  • Responsible for creating an environment of engagement and fostering development of Engineering Staff

  • Manage training development strategies for the Quality Engineering Staff

  • Articulate customer requirements and procedures to leadership and ensure efficient action of those procedures

  • Lead investigations and communication (internal and external) of customer-facing issues

, Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of five years of quality related experience

  • Minimum of one year of leadership experience

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or in a technical related field

  • Aerospace investment casting quality/engineering/manufacturing experience

  • Working knowledge of quality systems and requirements and how they relate to business (i.e. AS9100, NADCAP)

  • Familiarity with turbine engine components

  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

  • Experience leading/supporting the implementation of initiatives necessary to improve product quality and delivery

  • Experienced in PPAP and APQP

  • Experience conducting performance appraisals of direct reports

  • Ability to effectively communicate & present information to all levels of the organization - shop floor, direct reports, and management

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Experience using and training in the following quality tools - root cause analysis and problem solving, FMEA, control plans, PPAP, APQP, System audits, SPC

  • Strong computer skills
