Shift Information: The shift for this role will be: Rotating 12-hour shift. 2 weeks days and 2 weeks nights.

Position Summary: The Multi-craft Maintenance Tech is responsible for safely installing, maintaining, and repairing production and quality equipment to achieve maximum production capability while ensuring plant reliability. Conducts all work in accordance with the CARBO Mission Statement and Core Values.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
  • Answers calls in an efficient manner to resolve plant issues to ensure production and quality goals are met.
  • This position performs routine lubrication and inspection of bearings, gearboxes, motors, rotating assemblies, conveyor belts, elevators, screws, valves, etc.
  • Duties also include non-routine repairs, installation, and service on both electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Willing to learn all aspects of plant operation, fill in wherever needed to optimize plant efficiency.
  • Perform other related tasks when necessary.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights & weekends if needed.
  • Experience with Preventative and Reliability Maintenance including lubrication and inspection of all industrial components.
  • Industrial electrical and mechanical skills as well as the ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics.
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment. This includes but is not limited to proper lubrication practices, ability to identify defects in bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, mechanical drive systems, etc.
  • Preferred understanding of control voltage up to 480V electrical systems. Candidate should be able to assist with troubleshooting, replacement or repair of all types of electrical motor control systems.
  • Under guidance of a qualified electrician, candidate must be able to make up to 480 V terminations using accepted methods, install conduit, perform work in accordance with the NEC. Able to operate troubleshoot and repair emergency generating equipment, transfer switches, programmable controllers, and other related equipment
  • Preferred knowledge of pyro equipment and burner management systems.
  • Good oral and written communication skills combined with the ability to operate mobile equipment, perform heavy lifting as needed as well as the ability to work in a dusty environment and temperatures in excess of 100 degrees.
  • Must also be able to climb stairs and ladders multiple times daily and occasionally work in confined spaces.

Working Conditions:
  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
  • The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
  • Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
  • React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
