Job description

Established in 1974, Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged members of North Central Indiana.

Head Start Teacher Assistant – Laketon (full-time)

Assists the Lead Teacher in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Must be reliable, patient & caring with children ranging from 3-5 years old. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.

Options Counselor – Logansport (full-time)

Counsels and aids individuals and families requiring information and assistance. Provides direct Options Counseling by assessing and analyzing client requests and/or needs; explores problem resolution alternatives. Completes insurance application assistance and understanding; facilitates referrals to community and agency programs; and intervention as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional who meets the requirements at 42 CFR 483.430
  • Registered nurse with one year’s experience in human services
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, gerontology, nursing, health and human services
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years of full-time direct-service experience with the elderly or disabled (this experience includes assessment, care plan development, and monitoring)
  • Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience
