Medical Records Clerk
Rate: $16 - $17/hr. (depending on experience)
Shift: Part-Time
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
Harris Hill Nursing Facility is looking to add a
Medical Records Clerk to its team. In this role, you'll help maintain accurate, complete, and organized resident medical records while supporting the clinical team and ensuring compliance with facility policies and healthcare regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up, maintain, update, thin, and close resident medical records in accordance with facility policies and regulations
- Collect information from nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to ensure records remain accurate and complete
- Monitor and audit resident charts for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
- Update resident care policies and maintain required medical records documentation
- Prepare physician paperwork, schedule outside physician appointments, and maintain physician and nurse practitioner visit calendars
- Process transfer and discharge records and maintain records for former residents
- Add physician orders, laboratory results, and departmental reports to resident medical records
- Process laboratory requests, PRI assessments, census updates, QA documentation, resident identification materials, and other required medical records functions
- Create admission packets and provide necessary documentation to appropriate departments
- Support quality assurance activities and communicate admissions, discharges, and transfers as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in Medical Records Administration preferred
- Minimum experience requirement: 6 months of administrative experience; 1 year of experience in medical administration preferred
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic records management
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
