Job description

Cemetery grounds maintenance duties include cutting and trimming grass, hedge-trimming, mulching, planting flower beds, watering, and assistance with various landscaping projects. Seasonal hours: Tentatively May through August. Monday-Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm; start date/hours can be flexible.

Essential Duties: Cutting and trimming grass around monuments and markers. Maintaining flower beds; planting, mulching, weeding, watering, and trimming hedges or shrubbery. Assisting with burials as needed.

Related duties as assigned. Requirements: Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must comply with City policies and procedures. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver license and acceptable driving record. Must be 18 years of age or older. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred: Experience on zero-turn mower and trimmers. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is performed mostly outdoors; hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate equipment and machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, prolonged visual concentration, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
