Seasonal Grounds Assistant
Allouez Catholic Cemetery
Seasonal / Non-benefits eligible
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Seasonal Grounds Assistant is responsible for providing a pleasant outdoor environment by assisting the Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor and/or the Cemetery Crew Chief by performing a variety of tasks ensuring that the existing grounds of the Cemetery/Mausoleum are maintained and are attractive, orderly, and healthy. This includes caring for plants and trees, raking and mulching leaves, string trimming, mowing grass regularly and removing debris from graves. This position is seasonal and is available in the spring, summer and fall months for up to 40 hours per week. Most of the work is done outdoors in all kinds of weather. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
  • Must have basic knowledge regarding the operation of lawn maintenance equipment to include, but not limited to, string trimmers, rakes (leaf rakes, Iron rakes) lawnmowers (Hydrostatic mowers, manual mowers, push mowers, riding mowers), dirt shovels.
  • Operation and control of equipment or systems.
  • Mechanical ability for minimum maintenance of equipment used in cemetery grounds keeping - lawn mowers, trimmers, etc

PREFERRED:
  • Minimum high school education
