Job description

The City of New Albany ("City") currently has seasonal positions within the Street Department. Applicants to assist with repairs and maintaining and improving the streets, buildings and/or facilities within the designated areas of the City to ensure an excellent City is provided for or citizens and visitors.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. *Cleans and sweeps roadways, sidewalks and surrounding areas to remove rubbish, debris, vegetation and strata.
  2. *Paint fire hydrants.
  3. *Works in and/or around sewer pump stations.
  4. *Assists in water repairs and related work.
  5. *Completes patchwork and crack sealing as need.
  6. *Fills potholes using appropriate materials.
  7. *Prepares roads and curbs for paving.
  8. *Back-fills curbs upon completion of work.
  9. *Keeps signs and intersections clear of limbs and grass.
  10. *Mows grass and trims weeds along City streets and in medians.
  11. *Removes trash as necessary.
  12. *Checks equipment before use.
  13. *Determines when equipment needs to be used.
  14. *Operates equipment according to safety guidelines.
  15. *Performs maintenance when it is necessary.
  16. *Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  1. High school or G.E.D equivalent preferred.

  5. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
