Business Manager / Bookkeeper

Position Summary

Our Lady of Hungary Parish is seeking a part-time Business Manager to support the administrative and financial operations of a vibrant Catholic parish community. This role offers a flexible schedule, meaningful work, and the opportunity to contribute directly to the mission of the Church while utilizing bookkeeping and business administration skills.

  • Process routine financial transactions and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare checks and electronic payments and ensure parish bills are paid accurately and on time.
  • Process parish payroll using UKG, in cooperation with diocesan HR/payroll.
  • Submit employee information and changes to diocesan HR for payroll, benefits, and insurance.
  • Communicate with vendors and contractors regarding invoices, payments, services, and other routine matters.
  • Assist the pastor with routine financial reporting, budgeting, and diocesan financial requirements.
  • Handle occasional cemetery transactions, including plot sales and related recordkeeping.
  • All other duties as assigned by the pastor.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or office administration.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong follow-through and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with ParishSOFT and/or UKG is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a Catholic parish environment and supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Adherence to the diocesan fiscal management policies.
