Position Overview:

The Assistant Center Store Manager for Fridge/Frozen is responsible for daily department functions, ensures the department runs smoothly and effectively, and purchases from all vendors while maintaining strong vendor relationships. The Assistant Center Store Manager teaches Fridge/Frozen (F/F) department staff, provides direction, support, inspiration, and proficient training. Key supervisory points of this position include hiring, training, and notifying the Center Store Manager of any staffing issues that may arise. In addition the Assistant Center Store Manager ensures timely and accurate replenishment buying, utilizing systems, HL software, auto-order, cycle counts and data reports to effectively purchase for the needs and budgetary goals of the company. This position also serves as the "eyes and ears" for the Center Store Manager and Category Manager (CM) for the Grocery Department, providing their own observations, guest feedback, and general insights for the Manager, CM and VP of Purchasing and Retail Sales. 


Requirements

  • 2+ years of retail grocery or natural foods experience
  • Leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in a center store environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, ordering systems, and vendor relations
  • Familiarity with refrigerated and frozen food merchandising best practices
  • Ability to manage a team, problem-solve, and make data-informed decisions
  • Comfortable working early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day operations of the Fridge & Frozen (F/F) department
  • Order from all vendors, manage inventory, and track product movement
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships and resolve delivery/product issues
  • Supervise and train department staff; support hiring, scheduling, and reviews
  • Maintain food safety, shelf standards, signage, and compliance with health codes
  • Coordinate product merchandising, display building, and promotional execution
  • Monitor sales, margins, shrink, and KPIs in collaboration with Center Store leadership
  • Provide excellent guest service and support special orders and product education
  • Collaborate across departments (receiving, category management, merchandising)
  • Assist with payroll approvals, cycle counts, and ongoing staff development

Hours: Full-time, Sunday-Thursday: 8a-4p / flexibility is preferred 

Pay: Starts at $20/hr, previous experience will be taken into consideration
