Job description

Are we the road to your future?

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior CEI Inspector with relevant industry certifications to join our team in St. Louis, MO, or surrounding area.


To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a High School Diploma or equivalent.


As a Senior CEI Inspector, work is primarily routine and standardized inspection work which may include manual or electronic calculations and computations. You will perform independent inspection and documentation of construction processes and our team to assure compliance with the construction contract. Guidance to accomplish assignments is provided by higher level Inspectors, Project Engineers, or Resident Engineers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Making and checking engineering computations
  • Documenting/Inspecting construction work
  • Materials testing in the field
  • Inspection of truck load tickets for aggregate, asphalt, or concrete
  • Writing daily inspection reports, performing verification testing, and documenting test results and observations
  • Performing SWPPP inspections
  • Assisting in all types of record keeping and field measurements, as needed
  • Work is performed under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer and/or Construction Engineering and Inspection Manager

What you need to have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Significant experience with Latex Modified Concrete (LMC) bridge deck overlays and related CEI inspection activities
  • Five (5) years of experience in construction inspection, any prior experience in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection is preferred
  • Some MoDOT and/or local agency inspection experience is a plus
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
  • Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Bonus points if you have:

  • At least 6 years of inspection experience with some MoDOT Technician Certifications
  • ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state DOT certification are preferred but not required
