Position Overview:

We are hiring a Security Technician to work on commercial field installations of access control, camera systems, and related low-voltage security infrastructure. This is a hands-on role with direct responsibility for guiding junior technicians, supporting subcontractors, and delivering systems that work correctly from day one. You will be expected to read the plans, explain the system to the customer, and be able to work independently or with a crew.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support field teams and coordinate work alongside subcontractors
  • Install access control systems, security cameras, CCTV, paging devices, talk-down speakers, and motion sensors
  • Install and troubleshoot card readers and door hardware, including wired magnetic locks, to ensure proper access functionality throughout the building
  • Troubleshoot existing low-voltage wiring, including Cat6 to cameras and 18/4 to door hardware and access control panels, per design drawings
  • Communicate security and access control plans clearly to both customers and junior installers
  • Run and dress structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) per job specifications
  • Terminate RJ45s at patch panels using punch-down tools
  • Perform copper testing and maintain accurate documentation
  • Build out ladder racks, IDFs, and MDFs
  • Label, trace, and verify cable connectivity using tone and volt meters
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and scope documents
  • Work safely on ladders and lifts in active environments, including schools, hospitals, and commercial buildings
  • Communicate clearly, represent the company professionally, and operate without the need for micromanagement

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting access control, CCTV, and security camera systems
  • Experience with brands such as Lenel, Brivo, Softwarehouse CCURE 9000, Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, etc
  • Familiarity with card readers, magnetic locks, motion sensors, and paging or talk-down speaker systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot low-voltage wiring, including Cat6 camera runs and 18/4 door hardware wiring
  • Experience with copper and fiber installs, splicing, closet builds, and IDF/MDF buildouts
  • Ability to read security and access control drawings and communicate system design to customers and field crews
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable working at heights and lifting or moving equipment; ability to become lift-certified when required
  • Supervisor references required
  • Certifications for brands such as Lenel, Brivo, Softwarehouse CCURE 9000, Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, and similar are a huge plus

Benefits and Compensation

  • Pay range: $30 - $40/hr depending on experience and tenure
  • Health Benefits starting on day 1
  • Upon being hired on directly:
    • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
    • Short-term disability, AD&D, and long-term disability coverage
    • 401(k)
