Duty Days:ย ย  ย 175 days (regular teacher contract) plus 20 additional paid daysย 
Salary:ย ย  ย Based on CCSD #180 Teacher Salary Scheduleย 
District Overview ย 
Burr Ridge Community Consolidated School District #180 serves 485 elementary and middle school students. ย  CCSD #180 is committed to implementing an academic curriculum that is delivered consistently within each grade level and that flows sequentially from one grade to the next. ย  In addition to this strong curricular foundation, teachers enact instruction that emphasizes student engagement, cooperative learning, and the purposeful use of technology.ย 
Summary of the Instructional Coach Positionย 
The instructional coach will contribute to the improvement of student achievement by building teacher capacity through the development of research-based knowledge and practice. ย The instructional coach will be expected to provide professional development to large and small groups of teachers. In addition, the instructional coach will work with individual teachers to analyze data-based student needs and current teacher practice in order to develop coaching goals. Common coaching activities will include modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observation, and conferencing with teachers. ย This is not a supervisory position and does not include evaluation of colleagues. ย 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:ย 
Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Teacher Leadershipย 
Teaching Experience:ย 
At least 5 years of successful teaching experience at the elementary level
Valid Illinois teaching license
Coaching Experience: ย 
Graduate course work in coaching or teacher leadership ย 
Previous experience as a teacher leader at the team, content, or building level
Special Knowledge/Skills:ย 
Experience in design, preparation, and presentation of professional developmentย 
Experience implementing technology-enhanced instruction
Effective oral and written communication skillsย 
Preferred Qualifications
Coaching Experience:ย 
Two or more years of experience as a coach or teacher leader
Special Knowledge/Skills:ย 
Knowledge about and previous experience working with students from low-income families
Skill in designing instruction that incorporates student engagement and small-group learning experiences (e.g., completed Kagan workshops on Active Engagement and/or Cooperative Workshops)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
1.ย ย  ย Develop positive and supportive relationships with classroom teachers, specialized professionals, and paraprofessionals.
2.ย ย  ย Work with the CCSS #180 leadership team to determine the focus of the district's professional learning and then work with the team to design, prepare, and deliver large and small-group professional learning to appropriate audiences.
3.ย ย  ย Provide team level and individual coaching to ensure that instructional practices are aligned with the curriculum, with student assessment data, and with the district's commitment to engaged learning.
4.ย ย  ย Provide coaching in the form of modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observing, and conferencing to support individual teachers as they strive to enhance their practice and their students' ย learning.
5.ย ย  ย Assist in the development of intervention procedures and strategies for students who need additional instructional support.
6.ย ย  ย Respond to teacher inquiries about research-based instructional practices and/or curricular issues. ย 
7.ย ย  ย Assist teachers in analyzing and strengthening the various ways technology is being implemented to support both instruction and learning.
8.ย ย  ย Assist in identifying and ordering resources needed to support student learning and, via explanation and demonstration, support teachers in the use of those new resources.ย 
9.ย ย  ย Develop a system to document all activities with the intention of building a schedule that maximizes time with teams and individual teachers. ย Review and revise the schedule on a quarterly basis.ย 
10. ย Enhance coaching skills through attendance at/participation in various learning experiences such as conferences, workshops, summer institutes.
