FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Position Details
The Department of Mathematics of the City College of New York invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to start in Fall 2026. The department has strong and active research programs in a broad range of areas. Exceptional applicants from all areas of applied and pure mathematics will be considered. However, the greatest need and interest are for applicants with expertise in Computational Mathematics, broadly construed.
The City College of New York (CCNY) is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, with a strong tradition of excellence in mathematics, science, and engineering. CCNY serves a broad range of students and has an exemplary record as an engine of social and economic mobility. CCNY has a graduate program in Mathematics at the master's degree level, and CCNY Mathematics faculty teach and supervise doctoral-level mathematics students through appointments at the CUNY Graduate Center. The department has research expertise in areas related to computation including statistical learning, data science, theoretical computer science, computability, information security, and applications of computation to sciences including climate science, neuroscience, and phylogenetics. The college and CUNY are also hiring faculty (in many areas) related to AI through the Spergel Initiative in Computer Science.
Instructional needs are at all levels, including undergraduate service, major courses, and graduate courses in the CCNY graduate programs and the CUNY Graduate Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely allied field is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strongly preferred qualifications include at least two years of experience in research or teaching positions after completing a doctoral degree.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $90,838 - $102,017.
