The University of Texas at Dallas Center for Children and Families (CCF) is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist, interested in building and supporting our research initiatives while also developing an independent program of research in a field related to applied developmental science over 2-3 years.
The Research Associate will plan, conduct and direct a wide variety of experiments. Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. Conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods and procedures; plan and execute the details of experiments according to research protocol. This position is in the department of Psychology in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (bbs.utdallas.edu). Supervision and mentorship will be provided by Dr. Mandy Maguire as well as by other core faculty members of the Center for Children and Families (CCF), as availability and interests align.
CCF has three overarching goals: Research, Community Outreach, and Student Training. Related to research, the Center's faculty are highly productive scholars who engage in research that crosses the fields of human development including parent-child relationships (Nelson, Holub, Owen); social-emotional health (Kane, Tang), typical and atypical language development (Maguire, Rollins, Spence, Su, Swanson), and critical thinking and executive functioning in children (Mills, Owen). A primary goal of research at the center includes involving children and families from diverse backgrounds that mirror those of North Texas and the U.S. more broadly. Related to outreach, the center runs and collects comprehensive data on three programs that support the children and their families throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Play with Me, Grow with Me, and a Resource and Referral Program. CCF is CNM Certified in 2022, showing that we are using valid procedures for data collection, analysis, and reporting, and making data-driven decisions. The data collected within these outreach programs will be accessible to the new postdoctoral fellow for publications and pilot data for future work. Our training programs include research lab experiences, community services courses and a National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program.

Ph.D in a related field.

  • Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, Language Sciences, or a related field
  • A strong proficiency in English and Spanish languages (both written and verbal)
