Description

Sports Director


The Sports Director is responsible for league management including but not limited to scheduling, team formation, marketing and promotion of leagues and seasons as well as assisting in sponsored events. The Sports Director also is expected to develop new sports offerings based on current market trends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the internal sports program

  • Create and adjust league, tournament, and event schedules

  • Secure referees, trainers, and other personnel for all events and programs

  • Maintain schedule of fields and courts necessary for programs and events

  • Ensure that fields and playing surfaces are suitable for use by guests and initiate corrective action when needed

  • Ensure payments are properly recorded

  • Lead and manage league and event staff

  • Provide quality guest service to guests

  • Develop strategies to expand market share

  • Correspond with prospective groups

  • Manage department property and replenish as necessary

  • Ensure all accidents/injuries (guest or employee) are documented in accordance with current company policies

  • Perform duties of Manager-on-Duty as required

  • Ensure all department documents are up-to-date in accordance with company policy and/or other compliance requirements

  • Analyze customer data to meet current and future guest needs and/or requirements

  • Other tasks as directed by the General Manager

Requirement and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge in multiple sports/interests for future expansions and developments of leagues

  • Ability to think quickly rationally in times of emergency to prevent further problems

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once

  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate with affiliated guests by phone, e-mail and/or in person

  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and nights when necessary

  • Ability to enforce league and company policies and procedures

  • Ability to understand, learn, and utilize various league and company software

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in English

  • Ability to write department correspondence in English

  • Ability to perform mathematical computations required for management of the department

  • Ability to de-escalate highly emotionally charged situations and lead parties to acceptable solutions

  • Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred

  • Proficiency in league management software is preferred
