Class Description
The purpose of this class is to teach primarily aviation coursework specific to CCBC's Applied Associates of Science in Air Traffic Control (ATC), including the Federal Aviation Administration's Enhanced CTI (Collegiate Training Initiative) ATC program option that substitutes for the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City. Instruction could be in-person, online and hybrid. Other potential topics include aviation history, safety, flight/instrument/ground training, aviation operations, and aircraft dispatcher, as qualified and necessary.
For best consideration, please apply by January 7, 2026. The start date for this position is fall semester, 2026, August 15, 2026.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required, degree in Aviation strongly preferred. 3 years professional experience in one of the following: FAA Certified Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS); military controller with FAA credentials; International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) air traffic controller; Control Tower Operator (CTO) controller. In addition, at least two (2) years of Certified Professional Controller (CPC) experience, or equivalent, in a control tower. Current FAA employees cannot serve in this role before retirement or resignation.
Additional Aviation certifications a plus. Previous college-level teaching experience preferred. Master's degree preferred.
Class Specific Essential Duties
  1. Instruction at 30 Teaching Learning Hours minimum per annum.
  2. Design, develop and implement department programs or initiatives, in collaboration with Chair and faculty colleagues.
  3. Student advising.
  4. Maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
  5. Maintain department records and files, as required.
  6. Facilitate and attend meetings, as required.
  7. Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
  8. Manage program expenses and resources efficiently and economically.
  9. Identify access and analyze program data in the college's enterprise system.
  10. Develop new courses, in collaboration with Chair and faculty colleagues, including meeting project goals with business partnerships, accreditors and regulators and course series.
  11. Provide superior customer service and problem-solving to internal personnel and contract training clients.

Position Specific Essential Duties
  1. Develop and revise aviation curricula per industry-standards.
  2. Market and recruit in support of increasing enrollment levels.
  3. Manage CCBC's FAA Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) partnership, including full regulatory compliance with all related federal regulations.
  4. Establish, develop and maintain employer and industry-partner relationships to support labor needs and placement/employment opportunities for CCBC students.
  5. Effective advisement of prospective, incoming and existing students.
  6. Recruitment of new students.
  7. Work with internal departments to ensure that all existing and new courses are marketed and promoted in the best interests of the College.
  8. Represent and promote the college at affinity groups, professional and business associations, and community and networking events.
  9. Decisive performance in a demanding, deadline-oriented environment.
  10. Direct support of Department Chair.
  11. Maintain currency in relevant aviation licensing.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
