COMPONENT-BASED RELEASE (CBR) ANALYST
DUNCAN, SC - DUNCAN PLANT
The Component-Based Release (CBR) Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining all component-level releases within the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and associated production systems. This role ensures accurate communication of requirements to suppliers, maintains the integrity of bills of material (BOM), and supports production readiness through precise planning, documentation, and data management. The CBR Analyst is accountable for meeting daily and weekly release accuracy targets, resolving discrepancies, and supporting continuous improvement in material flow and inventory control.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
Release Management & MRP Integrity
  • Analyze daily/weekly customer releases and communicate discrepancies to the customer.
  • Generate, maintain, and validate component-based releases in the MRP/SAP system.
  • Ensure accuracy of demand signals, lead times, and planning parameters.
  • Identify, analyze, and correct release discrepancies to prevent production impact.
  • Eliminate release errors in SAP.
  • Communicate weekly volume mixes to Production, IT, Materials, and Quality teams.
  • Monitor customer releases for volume changes (increases/decreases).
  • Review daily schedules for potential shortages and ensure continuous material flow.

BOM Management, Engineering Changes & Data Control
  • Update BOMs and manage engineering changes, breakpoint coordination, and effective dates.
  • Perform monthly BOM audits with all departments.
  • Check BOMs for changes/errors when issues arise.
  • Maintain and audit BOM-related data, including obsolete component identification.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Finance, and Materials to ensure accurate master data views.

Supplier Communication & Performance
  • Issue timely, accurate releases to suppliers and confirm acknowledgment.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve delivery issues, quantity discrepancies, or release questions.
  • Follow up with suppliers and carriers, including "hot" shipments and ETA tracking (including after hours).
  • Track and document supplier performance related to release accuracy and delivery.
  • Report discrepancies and damages (e.g., airbag loads, FCA forms).

Continued
Inventory, Documentation & Reporting
  • Detect/correct stock discrepancies between header/CBR components and consignment inventory.
  • Monitor component inventory levels in accordance with PFEP requirements.
  • Support cycle counts, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for variances.
  • Maintain documentation for release activities, supplier communication, and deviations.
  • Organize and maintain customer reporting for first seats with new changes.
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly CBR performance reports.
  • Maintain material check records, receiving error records, vendor changes, breakpoints, and MCR summaries.
  • Trace shipments, enter PTR/PTA in systems, and complete associated forms.
  • Order post-model service materials when required.

Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Planning, Purchasing, Production, Quality, IT, Logistics, and Expediting on material issues.
  • Participate in process walks to identify risks at job stations.
  • Provide operational support during temporary change requests (TCRs).
  • Support department projects, data cleanup, and system improvement initiatives.

Compliance, Safety & Operational Excellence
  • Ensure adherence to IATF, customer-specific requirements, and internal compliance standards.
  • Maintain compliance with workplace legislation (OHSA, WSIB, Employment Standards, Human Rights, etc.).
  • Follow plant health, safety, and environmental processes.
  • Use required PPE and report hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in investigations, 8D problem-solving, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement to reduce inventory, improve accuracy, and enhance flow.
  • Provide night coverage when required.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in semi-annual plant inventories.
  • Assist with miscellaneous duties assigned by the department manager.
  • Work safely and ensure protection of self, coworkers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Business, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in materials, planning, scheduling, or supplier release management.
  • Experience with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with cross-functional teams.

Bonus if you have:
  • Experience with BOM management or engineering change control.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement training.
  • Previous experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
