Sr. Project Estimator โ€“ Electrical / Renewable Energy Construction Detroit, MI (Hybrid)

Critical Business Analysis has an immediate need for a contract Senior Electrical Estimator in the Metro Detroit area ( or willingness to relocate) with a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in electrical construction estimating. Previous experience with substations, overhead/underground cable work, and large-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind) is highly preferred. This is a contract position and work will be conducted on a hybrid model โ€” Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on-site with two days remote.

Estimator will work directly with project management, engineering, design, and supply chain teams across multiple concurrent projects.

Pay is commensurate with experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop ROM, budgetary, unit pricing, and definitive (detailed) estimates
  • Review design documents and scope packages for completeness
  • Validate quantities and challenge contractor/engineering estimates and bids for scope accuracy and pricing
  • Review and assess change orders for scope and cost accuracy
  • Develop estimate details by WBS to cost-load project schedules
  • Perform risk analysis, benchmarking, value engineering, constructability review, and claim analysis
  • Support project management teams across multiple clients in a matrixed structure
  • Capture lessons learned and participate in after-action reviews to support continuous improvement
  • Occasional travel to project sites to support contractor walkdowns
Requirements

Requirements

  • Home location within commutable distance to Metro Detroit is required
  • Minimum 4-5 years of electrical construction estimating experience
  • High School/GED with 10+ years, Associate's with 8+ years, or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4-5 years
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with On-Screen Takeoff or comparable estimating software preferred
  • Experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind) strongly preferred
