Job description

SUMMARY: 

Our Place is a no-cost multi-service drop-in center located in West Oakland and primarily services people experiencing homelessness living in the neighborhood. Our Place offers hygiene services like showers and laundry, hot meals, case management, housing navigation, and a variety of behavioral health support like recovery counseling, group therapy, and individual therapy. The Clinic Coordinator performs and supports all clerical functions of the site, including front desk, eligibility, referrals, and medical records. This Clinic Coordinator reports directly to the Clinic Director or Associate Director. 

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW. Salaries and benefits are set by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and an employee in this position must remain a member in good standing of SEIU-UHW, as defined in the CBA. 

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Provides clerical assistance to medical providers and triage department. 

  • Processes referrals as needed utilizing i2i. 

  • Supports Front Desk functions as needed. 

  • Manages patient flow during clinic hours. 

  • Participates in training front office staff in NextGen. 

  • Maintains current patient demographic and insurance information in clinic PMS (NextGen). 

  • Orders and distributes office supplies. 

  • Assists with eligibility coverage. 

  • Supports medical records as needed. 

  • Writes office procedures for all clerical areas. 

  • Provides patient follow-up as requested for no-show appointments. 

  • Assists with other duties as requested. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to work independently under pressure and handle multiple tasks. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to provide excellent customer service to patients and co-workers. 

  • Strong organizational skills. 

Job Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

  • Two years of related experience in a medical setting. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
