Overview
The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading, identifying, and executing strategic sourcing activities for a portion of direct material spend at The Marzetti Company. The categories can be complex and impactful from both a Supply Chain and overall company perspective. In this role, the Procurement Manager will work with cross-functional partners in the ideation, development and launch of new products into the Retail or Foodservice marketplace. The individual in this position should have a procurement background, with sourcing experience. The individual should be detail oriented and have a drive to lead their team to reach cost savings targets and ensure supply on categories impacting The Marzetti Company.
Responsibilities
  • This position will focus on reducing the overall cost of materials and ensuring supply for production. This will be achieved by creating an optimal number of suppliers, negotiating competitive pricing, establishing corporate contracts, and driving compliance to these agreements.
  • Utilize the size and scale of The Marzetti Company to strategically source critical categories and ensure competitive costs.
  • Provide leadership and development to co-workers.
  • Lead the sourcing and negotiations for strategic categories, as well as day to day supplier and SKU management.
  • Lead the efforts of transforming critical categories into strategically managed categories which will increase the effectiveness of our manufacturing and drive cost savings.
  • Be the Point of Contact for material change management will all vendor transitions, includes putting transition plans in place and working cross-functionally to gain support in transition.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategy of the managed categories through an analysis of the supply marketplace to ensure alignment to industry best in class solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to lead contract negotiations with vendors; develop negotiation methods and acceptable terms and conditions through contract completion.
  • Own detailed execution of the sourcing programs and process linking closely to Manufacturing, Marketing, Info. Tech., Human Resources and R&D
  • Support the Procurement Director or Sr. Procurement Manager with cost savings opportunities, cash flow improvement, negotiations, vendor change management and alternate supplier initiatives.
  • This is both a strategic and a tactical position that requires forward vision and insight to be combined with data gathering and detailed step by step execution.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Logistics or similar field of study; MBA preferred
  • Preferred 3-7 years of purchasing experience.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and influence business decisions and change.
