ABOUT US
Rockhurst High is a Jesuit Catholic, college preparatory school with an enrollment of approximately 860 male students. Founded in 1910, the school strives to serve an economically, socially and geographically diverse student population within the Kansas City metropolitan area. Academic excellence is a trademark of the school as well as a diverse array of successful co-curricular activities and teams.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Digital Media Specialist advances Rockhurst High School's mission and strategic priorities by engaging and inspiring key audiences through an authentic, creative, on-brand approach to storytelling across digital media. The Digital Media Specialist is polished in photography and videography, editing, and experienced in multiple social media platforms.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop fresh, compelling content through photography and videography to share on Rockhurst's social media pages and website, and in publications.
  • Manage day-to-day postings on Rockhurst's social media pages, while making all photo albums viewable to the greater Rockhurst community.
  • Create and share multiple event recap and school highlight videos each month.
  • Design branded templates useable for all school departments.
  • Work directly with co-curricular groups and athletic teams to feature membership, activities, and achievements.
  • Host livestreams for student, parent, and alumni events.
  • Oversee a student-produced content program while providing mentorship and coaching on creative digital media projects.
  • Monitor KPIs of social media pages to optimize content.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong working knowledge of photography and editing, video production, and social media.
  • Portfolio showcasing samples of creative work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented with a commitment to organization and accuracy.
  • Outstanding computer skills; design experience and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with team members and colleagues.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with livestreaming platforms and technologies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic, Jesuit education.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage projects with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-5+ years of experience with Bachelor's degree, preferable in Communications or related field (Public Relations, Education, Marketing, Journalism, Video Production).
  • Demonstrated background in graphic design and branding.
  • Experience working with high school students to generate digital content.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement across campus and event venues.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25-30 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate cameras, audiovisual equipment, and computers.
  • Strong visual and auditory ability for content creation and editing.
  • Work in office, classroom, and outdoor settings.
  • Evening and weekend hours required for events and livestreams.
  • Exposure to varying weather and moderate noise levels.
