*This is a full-time in-office position.

Senior Grants Specialist:

Summary of Position:
The senior grants specialist will coordinate a comprehensive grant-seeking program to support assigned programs across the 8-county service area. They understand the priorities of grant-making organizations and assist program directors in aligning program needs with funding opportunities. As an external representative of Catholic Charities, they present the mission, values, and program outcomes of Catholic Charities accordingly. This position works closely with system and program directors, finance, human resources and other departments, as appropriate.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Support assigned programs by overseeing grant activities for foundation, corporate foundation, as well as county, state and federal government funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Catholic Charities program leadership, finance officers, and staff throughout the proposal development process, especially related to program design and outcomes.
  • Work in partnership with the Data and Strategy department to determine metrics and support the tracking of data. Pull data from performance improvement dashboards as needed, and coordinate post-award evaluation and reporting.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with program staff related to financial compliance, limitations, activities and outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with external funders. Convene and lead site visits.
  • Identify, research, and develop relationships with prospective foundation, corporate foundation, and government donors.
  • Prepare and submit outcome narrative and financial grant reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure grant information is maintained in donor files and donor database.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • Full-time, in-person position.
  • Travel throughout service area required.
  • Constant sitting, talking, listening/hearing.

  • Analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Communicating with the public.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience writing proposals and managing grants in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience in social/human services and health fields preferred, but not required. Knowledge of major private foundation and public funders is preferred.
  • Exceptional organization, multitasking, and follow-through skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Must be able to work independently and to prioritize multiple projects on a timely basis.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must have valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
