Cardiac Cath/EP/Hybrid OR Tech

Coordinates and performs aspects of patient care before, during, and after Cardiac Cath/EP/Hybrid OR related procedures. Circulates, scrubs using aseptic or sterile technique, monitors and documents hemodynamics and patient events during procedure to provide quality patient care for patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath/EP Lab/Hybrid OR. Utilization and management of digital x-ray equipment and archiving system.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides primary care for patients during pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure.
  • Ability to see, hear, and respond to physical emergencies in an expedient manner.
  • Assists physicians by scrubbing for invasive vascular and cardiac catheterization services for adult patients using approved protocols.
  • Must be able to work closely with physicians and assist with complex procedures.
  • Operates radiographic equipment and assures storage of all catheterization images from a variety of equipment.
  • Understands and anticipates for patient needs and supply needs based on the procedure and diagnosis.
  • Must have exceptional knowledge of patient anatomy.
Education/Qualifications

Cath Lab Tech I:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program and in good standing.
  • Must possess or obtain within 3 months current BLS.
  • Must be within 4 months of graduation.
  • Must obtain licensure (RCIS/ARRT) and SCRQSA within 6 months of hire. If RCIS must obtain LLR licensing immediately following RCIS licensure.
  • Must obtain ACLS within 1 year of hire

Cath Lab Tech II:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program
  • Must possess a current ARRT or RCIS Certification. SCRQSA required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); or obtain ACLS withing one year of hire to progress to Cath Lab Tech III
  • If RCIS, must register with the SC LLR and keep current cert.
  • Pass Rhythms Class within 6 months of hire.
  • Clinical experience or instruction in vascular/interventional radiography and experience in a cardiac laboratory preferred
  • Ability to operate radiographic equipment and produce quality radiographs and store and retrieve the images is required

Cath Lab Tech III:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program
  • Must possess a current ARRT or RCIS Certification. SCRQSA required within 30 days of hire.
  • If RCIS certified MUST register with SC LLR and keep current.
  • Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and obtain/maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)(obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire)
  • Must pass the AnMed Rhythms test within 3 months of hire.
  • Clinical experience or instruction in vascular/interventional radiography and experience in a cardiac laboratory required for a Tech III; otherwise falls under Tech II.
  • Ability to operate radiographic equipment and produce quality radiographs and store and retrieve the images is required.
