Pay Rate: $41,000.00-$65,000.00 + incentive bonus plan (commissions paid monthly).
Pay is based upon education and experience. 

Position Summary: 

The CAT Technology Specialist plays a key role in helping customers maximize the value of their equipment investments through the implementation and support of Caterpillar technology solutions. This position serves as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them improve safety, productivity, equipment utilization, and jobsite performance through technology adoption and best practices.

As the dealership's subject matter expert, the Technology Specialist works closely with equipment sales representatives, Product Support Sales Representatives (PSSRs), service technicians, product managers, Caterpillar representatives, and customers to promote, implement, support, and train users on current and emerging technologies.

This role requires a strong combination of technical expertise, customer relationship skills, training capabilities, and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will be passionate about helping customers achieve measurable business results while supporting Wagner's commitment to exceptional customer service and operational excellence.

This position reports to the Sales Development Manager.

What You'll Do

Customer Solutions & Support:  

  • Evaluate customer operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology solutions.
  • Lead technology installations, setup, calibration, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting and support.
  • Assist customers with software updates, system optimization, and ongoing technology utilization.
  • Develop customer adoption strategies to help maximize return on investment.

Sales Partnership:  

  • Partner with Equipment Sales Representatives and PSSRs to identify technology opportunities.
  • Participate in customer meetings, equipment demonstrations, and sales presentations.
  • Support machine deliveries that require technology installation and operator training.
  • Develop ROI analyses and technology recommendations for customers.
  • Help drive technology sales growth and equipment attachment rates.

Training & Development:  

  • Deliver training for equipment operators, supervisors, customers, and Wagner employees.
  • Conduct technology workshops, customer events, and educational sessions.
  • Develop training materials and technology best practices.
  • Promote customer confidence and adoption of Caterpillar technology solutions.

Technical Experience: 

Maintain working knowledge of Caterpillar and related technologies including:

  • Cat Grade with 2D and 3D
  • VisionLink
  • Cat Payload
  • Product Link
  • Cat Detect
  • Cat Command
  • Fleet management and telematics platforms
  • Construction connectivity solutions
  • Paving and compaction control systems
  • Emerging automation and autonomous equipment technologies

 Required Qualifications:  

  • Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Agriculture Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience supporting construction equipment, mining equipment, machine control, GPS/GNSS systems, technology solutions, or related products.
  • Strong understanding of construction and jobsite operations.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within assigned territory.
  • Ability to work safely in construction, mining, and industrial environments.

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience with Caterpillar equipment and Caterpillar technology products.
  • Background in machine control, surveying, telematics, or fleet management systems.
  • Experience conducting customer training and technical demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and data analysis tools.

During the first year, the Technology Specialist will:

  • Increase customer adoption of Caterpillar technology solutions.
  • Improve technology attachment rates on new equipment sales.
  • Increase VisionLink utilization and connected asset engagement.
  • Deliver successful customer training and implementation programs.
  • Support Wagner's growth objectives through technology-driven customer solutions.
  • Become a trusted resource and technical expert for customers and internal teams.

This position is often becoming one of the most critical roles in modern Caterpillar dealerships as machine automation, connectivity, payload optimization, remote operation, and autonomous equipment continue to expand across construction, paving, quarry, and mining applications
