About IPSD
Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar's company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.
Job Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity with Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) as a Production Support Specialist supporting our Training Department. In this role, your focus will be on training and elevating newly hired team members' ability to perform entry level roles to improve product, quality, velocity, and cost-effectiveness through skilled data analysis, effective problem-solving, and meticulous work validation. As a key member of the team, you'll report to managers and collaborate across different departments to meet the demands of both customers and the company.
What you will do:
  • Put safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries, occupational illnesses and safety incidents
  • Manage and conduct classroom, practical and other training operations of new team members with a focus on assembly and logistics job roles
  • Evaluate team members skills and learning to close skill and knowledge gaps
  • Provide safety and other manufacturing training to new hires and current employees to drive performance improvement in safety, quality and velocity as needed
  • Take initiative to identify, document, communicate and correct problems, report discrepancies and recommend solutions
  • Lead and support Caterpillar Production System continuous improvement activities
  • Interact, provide feedback and training to team members supporting Caterpillar's production objectives in alignment with our Code of Conduct and Values in Action
  • Maintain and improve the integrity and reliability of process controls within the production process to ensure customer protection
  • Complete projects as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

What you will have:
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or training work environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well and collaborate with others
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate experience with computers, tablets, and with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures

What would make you a top candidate:
  • Intermediate experience using PLEX
  • Knowledge of products and\ assembly tools
  • Experience as a classroom facilitator, trainer, or educator
  • Value stream flexibility

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
