Catering Event Manager (Part-Time)Position Summary

The Catering Event Manager serves as the on-site leader for catered events, ensuring exceptional execution from setup through breakdown. Acting on behalf of the Operations Manager, the Event Manager oversees staff, coordinates logistics, serves as the primary point of contact for clients and vendors, and ensures every event is delivered to Rocky Top Catering's standards of excellence.

This position requires strong leadership, organization, problem-solving skills, and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review event details, timelines, floor plans, and client expectations prior to each event.
  • Ensure all event information is thoroughly understood and communicated to staff before event execution.
  • Execute all event details as outlined by the Sales and Operations teams.
  • Manage and supervise a team of 2–20 event staff members during setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Serve as the on-site liaison between clients, guests, vendors, and catering staff.
  • Lead by example while maintaining a positive, professional, and guest-focused environment.
  • Perform and oversee all service functions, including buffet service, plated meals, beverage service, bartending, and guest interaction.
  • Assign staff responsibilities and ensure all team members understand their roles.
  • Monitor event timelines and make real-time adjustments to ensure seamless execution.
  • Resolve client concerns and operational challenges professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Coordinate staffing, equipment, rentals, and event supplies as needed.
  • Train, coach, and develop team members to support ongoing growth and performance.
  • Maintain a "WOW" level of customer service for clients and guests.
  • Complete post-event reporting, including labor reconciliation, employee clock-in/out verification, incident documentation, and final event summaries.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, setup, and breakdown of event equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain professionalism and represent the company positively at all times.
Qualifications
  • Previous event management, hospitality, catering, restaurant, or customer service leadership experience preferred.
