Job description

CATERING EVENT SERVER

The Event Server is a front of house team member responsible for providing professional, courteous service during catering events for Founding Farmers Catering and Events. This role works under the direction of the Event Lead or Buffet Lead and supports food service, guest interaction, and event setup and breakdown. As a member of the event staffing team, the Event Server plays a key role in creating a positive guest experience while maintaining service standards, cleanliness, and attention to detail throughout the event. Success in this role requires arriving on time and in proper attire for every event, bringing positive energy and professionalism to each shift, and consistently delivering exceptional service with a friendly, guest focused demeanor.
This position requires reliable transportation to off premise and on-site catering events throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Virginia, and Maryland. Candidates must have the ability to travel to and from event locations as needed. The catering production center is located in District Heights Maryland. This is a great opportunity for those looking to earn additional income as part of our growing catering and event staff. This is a pick up and on call position, events may occur weekends, nights and daytime hours throughout the week, making this perfect for flexible scheduling.

WHAT OUR EVENT SERVER DOES:

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of catering events including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffets, and stations
  • Carry trays, serve guests, and attend buffets or stations to ensure food remains clean, stocked, and presentable
  • Understand event menus, ingredients, and preparation and communicate allergies or special requests to event leadership
  • Provide professional and courteous service and address guest concerns promptly and positively
  • Assist with bussing tables and maintaining clean service areas discreetly during events
  • Assist with packing equipment and loading vans or trucks during breakdown
  • Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, grooming, and appearance
  • All other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE AN EVENT SERVER:

  • One year of experience working in full or quick service dining, or in a catering environment required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds, as needed
  • Capable of continuous bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and use of hands and arms
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced event environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry trays, equipment, or supplies as needed
