Job description

A Southland Holdings Company is currently accepting resumes for an experienced Jack and Bore Operator for our large heavy civil project located in Cape Coral, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate auger boring machines to install steel casing for underground utility crossings
  • Perform Bore & Jack operations including machine setup, casing installation, and auger removal
  • Monitor Machine controls including jacking pressure, rotation, and alignment
  • Assist with boring machine set up and alignment
  • Coordinate auger flighting, cutting heads, and casing sections
  • Inspect equipment daily and report maintenance needs
  • Work closely with crew members, supervisors, and inspectors
  • Assist with tasks including casing installation, welding coordination, and spoil removal
  • Ensure crews maintain productivity wile following safety procedures
  • Follow all company safety policies and jobsite regulations
  • Maintain safe working conditions within launch pits and work zones
  • Assist with utility locating and Dig Safe Coordination

Requirements:
  • 5+ Years of Auger Boring/ Bore & Jack experience
  • Experience operating auger boring machines (ABM)
  • Knowledge of Steel casing installation and trenchless construction
  • Experience working with auger flighting, cutting heads, and casing installation
  • Ability to read construction plans, bore profiles, and specifications
  • Knowledge of jobsite safety practices and underground utility construction
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work out doors in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to work over time and travel when required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Driver's license (CDL with Tanker endorsement)
  • Experience operating American Augers, Barbco, or similar auger boring equipment
  • Knowledge of line and grade systems
  • Experience working in shored pits and trench boxes
  • Experience with steel casing welding and installation
  • OSHA safety training or trench safety certification

Essential job duties include climbing ladders into and out of earthen pits/trenches' walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting up to 50 pounds, full range of motion and use of arms and legs, working around heavy equipment and active construction zones.
