Amount of Travel Required: N/A

Pay Rate: $15 per hour during training - $8 per hour plus tipshare (average $20-$25 per hour) after training.

POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for the increase in retail sales of Messina Hof wines at the winery, the care of the physical center, and the hospitality of the guests. This person is the host for our guests. The purpose of the Messina Hof guest center is to welcome visitors of Messina Hof as family members and to embrace them as personal friends of our Messina Hof family.

Essential Functions Statement(s) 

  • Sales
    • Promote, sell, and conduct tours, tastings, parties and repeat sales at winery
    • Educate Messina Hof guests on wine, wine & food pairings and wine appreciation
    • Increase Wine Club and VIP Club memberships
    • Operate POS system for routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register, accounting of daily sales, and processing returns and discounts.
  • Customer Service
    • Communicate with guests, co-workers, and business associates in a courteous and professional manner. Must be people and hospitality oriented.
  • Care of the Tasting Room Area
    • Facilitate Messina Hof’s high standard of cleanliness and organization in all areas of the Tasting Room including, food areas, deck area, preparation areas and restrooms
  • Inventory Control
    • Assist with inventory control including movements, merchandising and stocking of all items
    • Maintain full stock of wines, food items, and gift shop items
  • Perform other duties as required including assisting other departments as needed

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competency Statement(s)

  • Experience in retail or a closely related field
  • Experience in customer service
  • Ability to use a Personal Computer
  • Must have active TABC and Food Handler certifications at all times.
