Job description

Position Overview

The Cash Room Clerk performs a variety of clerical accounting functions related to cash handling and collections processing. This role is responsible for counting and balancing cash transactions, reconciling driver and Sales Representative collections, and managing cash receipts. The position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work with computerized systems to process financial transactions within a fast-paced distribution environment.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Reconcile all driver and sales collections on a daily basis.
  • Process cash receipts and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Complete daily collections balance sheets and related reconciliation reports.
  • Prepare bank deposits in accordance with company policies and procedures and research deposit variances when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of collections and cash handling activities.
  • Utilize computerized systems for data entry and financial tracking.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, sales representatives, and internal departments regarding collection discrepancies or questions.
  • Assist with maintaining organized financial records and documentation.
  • Support finance and accounting operations through transactional and administrative tasks.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of administrative experience, preferably in an accounting or banking environment.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with customers and associates.
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy including e-mail, internet, database inquiries, and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to organize files and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a distribution or logistics environment.
  • Experience reconciling cash collections or handling financial transactions.
  • Familiarity with accounting or finance systems used in distribution operations.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
