Overview:
Clinical Internship Opportunities – Mental Health & Substance Use Programs
Locations throughout MD, PA, VA, DE, and DC | In-Person | Unpaid
Are you currently enrolled in a graduate program that requires a clinical internship in the fields of mental health, counseling, social work, or addiction treatment? Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health and Concerted Care Group (CCG) is proud to partner with colleges and universities nationwide to offer hands-on internship opportunities at our outpatient treatment centers across five states/District of Columbia.
We are committed to providing students with a professional, structured, and patient-centered clinical experience that supports academic and licensure goals—while contributing to our mission of restoring lives and strengthening communities.
Responsibilities:
• Develops a treatment alliance with patients that is mutual, collaborative, and individualized, meeting changing clinical needs throughout treatment
• Co-facilitates addiction psychotherapy groups in the IOP and OP levels of care
• Carries a small caseload after the onboarding period
• Prepares and presents addiction/recovery education presentations, under the supervision of a Kolmac/CCG clinician.
• Promotes the organizations image in a positive and professional manner
• Engages in case management sessions, including assessments, collaborative treatment goals, discharge planning, partnership with referral sources and/or other providers
• Works with medical staff and clinical supervisor to meet the co-occurring psychiatric needs of patients
• Coordinates care for all appropriate support services, including referral sources, family members, and other support providers
• Responsible for maintaining timely and well written documentation that meets state and CARF standards
• Responsible for obtaining signatures from licensed therapist/supervisor for all clinical documentation throughout the internship
• Attends and is prepared for professional meetings, including treatment team
• Engages in case management sessions, including assessments, collaborative treatment plans, BAMs, discharge planning, partnership with referral sources and/or other providers
• Responsible for completing documentation within 24 hours of competing a service and meets state and CARF standards Completes discharges within 48 hours of patient completing services
Qualifications:
Requirements
• Must be affiliated with a university that has or is willing to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kolmac/CCG.
• Must be able to commute and work in person at a designated Kolmac/CCG clinic location.
• Must follow all Kolmac/CCG policies, clinical standards, privacy practices (including HIPAA), and safety protocols.
• Must provide necessary documentation and clearances as required by your university program (e.g., background check, immunizations, insurance verification, TB test).
• Must complete all onboarding, orientation, and clinical training assigned by the site.
• Strong clinical, verbal, and writing skills
• Flexible and creative team player
• Schedule allows for attendance at weekly clinical treatment team meetings
• Demonstrates the ability to develop therapeutic rapport with patients in group and individual sessions
