Job description

The Opportunity:
Carpenters Hall is looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time Server Assistant to join the team. A Server Assistant will assist food service employees in delivering food to tables, maintain cleanliness and attend to needs behind the bar, clean tables, carry dirty dishes, replace soiled table linens; setting tables; replenish supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes; and serve water, appetizers and coffee to patrons. The person in this position must have excellent communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. A Server Assistant must develop and maintain the company's culture, values and reputation in the public eye and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.

The hotel is nestled in an old pecan grove on the edge of Zilker Park in South Austin. It's an easy walk to Lady Bird Lake, downtown, and central to everything worth doing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to dress code policies during shift
  • Runs in room dining.
  • Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in order to facilitate customer service
  • Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary
  • Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
  • Ensure sure that beverage and ice dispensers, cabinets, serving areas are stocked
  • Replenish supplies of food and equipment at service bars/satellite service stations
  • Stock refrigerating units with wines and bottled beer, and replace empty beer keg
  • Set tables with clean linens, condiments, and other supplies
  • Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
  • Clean tables, counters, shelves, walls, furniture, and equipment in food service areas and other areas of restaurants, and mop and vacuum floors
  • Wash glasses and other serving equipment at bars
  • Clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash
  • Serve ice water, coffee, and standard appetizers (i.e. bread/butter or chips/salsa) to patrons
  • Assist with ensuring guests receive their food in a timely manner
  • Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property
  • Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements
  • Attend relevant meetings
  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction
