About The Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the structural design and analysis of transmission and substation systems.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Structural design and analysis of transmission structures such as lattice towers, monopoles (steel and concrete), wood poles, and specialty structures
  • Evaluation and retrofitting of existing lattice towers, including capacity assessments and development of reinforcement solutions
  • Design and/or analysis of substation structures including dead-end structures, equipment supports, and bus structures
  • Preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, IEEE, NESC)
  • Structural modeling and analysis using PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, STAAD, and/or RISA
  • Foundation design using LPILE, MFAD, HFAD, and TFAD, supported by manual calculations in Mathcad and Excel
  • Design of drilled shafts, spread footings, anchors, and direct-embedded pole foundations
  • Review of vendor calculations and drawings
  • Coordination with fabrication and construction teams
  • Collaboration with civil, electrical, and geotechnical engineers to ensure fully integrated project design and delivery
  • Field support including site visits, construction support, and structural inspections
  • Contribution to proposals, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables as needed
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in transmission and/or substation structural engineering
  • Proven experience with lattice towers, monopoles, wood poles, and/or specialty structures
  • Experience performing analysis and retrofit design of existing lattice towers
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software including PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, STAAD, and RISA
  • Proficiency in foundation design software including LPILE, MFAD, HFAD, and TFAD, along with strong capability in Mathcad and Excel-based engineering calculations
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standards including ASCE, AISC, ACI, NESC, and IEEE.
  • Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with company polic
  • Strong engineering judgment and ability to evaluate and resolve complex design issues
  • Ability to apply engineering theory and principles to practical field and design challenges
  • A proactive mindset for identifying improved engineering solutions, processes, and tools, and effectively communicating and implementing them
  • Commitment to safety and consistent adherence to all applicable safety standards and procedures
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to thrive in a less structured, project-driven environment
