Position at Danbury Hospital

Summary:
To expedite the delivery of all cardiovascular tests by performing the details associated with overall office operations, mainly through the coordination and scheduling of tests.
Responsibilities:
1. Answers the telephone, gives information to callers, and routes calls appropriately to ensure that effective communication occurs. Utilizes clear and concise interpersonal skills to ensure the satisfaction of internal and external customers.
2. Schedules tests with all parties in a timely manner, coordinating the needs of patients, physicians and others as needed. Rotates into different cardiovascular scheduling areas as business needs requires.
3. Greets patients upon arrival to the department, verifies insurance coverage when necessary, obtains release information, answers questions and explains service steps to ensure patient satisfaction.
4. Assists with paperwork specific to any area in the cardiovascular division to include echo, vascular and nuclear cardiology.
5. Utilizes the Invision computer system or patient registration (dependant on scheduler's level of security) to access and enter patient demographics, verify insurance coverage, register patient, schedule diagnostic testing.
6. Obtains patient files and previous films from the warehouse and file room to prepare for testing on the following day. Sends out films to other facilities via Federal Express.
7. Obtains films and intervention/operative reports from referral facility if applicable.
8. Prepares and distributes all paperwork and copies of the daily master schedule to the appropriate areas of service line and other departments of the hospital.
9. Collects and collates billing requisitions and patient demographic sheets, which are then forwarded to the billing coordinator.
10. Assists with the tracking of catheterization films. Acquires test reports and films for the catheterization conference.
11. Mails pre-test instructions to outpatients and office practices to ensure an understanding of the testing procedure.
12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Required: Data entry and MS Word required.
Education: High School Diploma/GED
Minimum Experience: one year
Desired: Excellent communication skills, previous scheduling experience, background in cardiovascular testing.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions
