Job description

Schutz Container System is a Global Packaging /Manufacturing Company located in St Joseph MO is searching for an experienced Plant Manager.


The Plant Manager will be responsible for plant production and profitability goals.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Direct and coordinate plant operations within company policies and procedures.
  2. The Plant Manager maintain a clean and safe plant and promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and a safety conscious work force, and continuously monitor plant for safety, environmental and housekeeping concerns and ensure corrective actions is taken to protect the welfare and health of our employees and meet all legislative requirements. Ensure that corrective actions are taken in a timely and cost effective manner. Exceed all government regulations relating to Safety and the Environment.
  3. The Plant Manager direct plant policies and procedures as defined by Corporate Office.
  4. Ensure, through department supervisors, that productivity, efficiency, and quality of all operations are monitored and corrective action is taken when standards are not being met. Set metrics and meet budgeted targets. Monitor daily production and scrap data and take corrective actions to optimize operation and minimize cost.
  5. Assist departmental managers/supervisors in developing technical and operating capabilities of their personnel through a suitably planned training program and monitor their progress and performance. Monitor staff and address any discipline situations. Maintain all personnel records with regard to capability and performance. Review adjustments in job classification and wage rates with departmental supervisors and approve recommended changes. Conduct employee performance reviews
  6. Ensure full implementation of all relevant procedures and instructions.
  7. Through department supervisors, ensure suitable scheduling of personnel and operations in the plant to meet customers requirement at the least cost. Monitor and coordinate preventative maintenance functions and requirements. Monitor maintenance functions and assist maintenance supervisor in assigning priorities.
  8. Implement practical operating improvements to reduce costs through increased productivity and improved yields
  9. Responsible for plant production goals. Responsible for establishing all shift production schedules.
  10. Ensure successful completion of assigned projects.
  11. Establish and maintain a positive community relationship.
  12. Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  13. Provide support through leadership of each of the departments so they will attain their goals and objectives.
  14. Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of production, logistics and shipping.
  15. Monitor all inventories to ensure that they are maintained at the proper levels and follow corporate inventory procedures.
  16. Schedule and conduct plant meetings.
  17. Responsible for the product quality control for the plant.
  18. Attend scheduled corporate meetings and events. Complete and submit required reports in a timely manner.

Other duties as assigned.
