Bob Loquercio Auto Group is seeking a high-performing Campus Used Car Director to lead and oversee all used vehicle operations across our Michigan City, Indiana Campus. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced automotive professional who understands every aspect of used car operations and knows how to build a profitable, efficient, and fast-moving inventory strategy.

We are looking for a hands-on leader with deep expertise in used vehicle acquisition, inventory management, appraising, reconditioning, pricing strategy, merchandising, lot management, vehicle turn, and profitability optimization.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment, is highly analytical, aggressive in sourcing inventory opportunities, detail-oriented, technologically savvy, and understands how to combine traditional used car expertise with modern data-driven decision making.

Key Responsibilities

As our Campus Used Car Director, you will take ownership of all used vehicle operations across the campus, including:

  • Managing and overseeing all used vehicle inventory across multiple rooftops within the campus
  • Developing and executing aggressive used vehicle acquisition strategies
  • Sourcing inventory through:
    • Customer trade-ins
    • Auctions
    • Service drive opportunities
    • Lease returns
    • Dealer trades
    • Private-party purchases
    • Wholesalers
    • Online acquisition platforms
  • Appraising trade-ins and vehicle purchases with strong market awareness and disciplined valuation strategies
  • Managing the entire reconditioning process from acquisition to frontline-ready inventory
  • Improving reconditioning speed, reducing downtime, and controlling recon costs
  • Organizing and maintaining used vehicle lots to ensure operational efficiency and strong presentation standards
  • Developing stocking strategies based on:
    • Market demand
    • Vehicle age
    • Price points
    • Brand mix
    • Inventory turn potential
    • Profit opportunities
  • Monitoring vehicle aging and implementing action plans to reduce stale inventory
  • Managing pricing strategies based on market trends, inventory turn, profitability, and competitive market positioning
  • Partnering closely with sales managers to ensure vehicles are properly stocked, priced, merchandised, and retail-ready
  • Overseeing digital merchandising, including:
    • Online vehicle listings
    • Vehicle photos
    • Descriptions
    • Vehicle history reporting
    • Digital retail presentation
  • Utilizing technology and reporting tools including:
    • Inventory management systems
    • Appraisal platforms
    • CRM systems
    • DMS reporting tools
    • Spreadsheets and analytics platforms
    • Market pricing software
  • Coordinating with service departments, detail teams, transport companies, body vendors, and outside recon providers
  • Tracking vehicle status, location, keys, pricing, readiness, and accountability throughout the inventory lifecycle
  • Identifying underperforming inventory and implementing corrective action plans
  • Reporting directly to executive leadership on:
    • Inventory performance
    • Acquisition opportunities
    • Recon timelines

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Proven experience in used vehicle management within a dealership environment
  • Strong vehicle appraisal experience with a track record of disciplined buying decisions
  • Experience developing successful used vehicle acquisition strategies
