Our Reality Capture team has an opening for a Reality Capture Specialist Manager in our California region. This role could be based in the following studios:

About Reality Capture at DLR Group
The Reality Capture team utilizes a combination of lidar 3D scans, photogrammetry, photographs, and construction documents to create 3D models that elevate accuracy and safety throughout the lifecycle of our projects.

Position Summary
As a Reality Capture Specialist Manager at DLR Group you will use advanced technology to quickly develop digital models of existing buildings and spaces. Attention to detail is critical, as the resulting deliverables will be used by DLR Group design teams and clients. You will have a passion for cutting-edge technology and the ability to apply it effectively to varying project scopes.
Architectural knowledge of existing buildings is crucial.
You will partner directly with the Project Manager to ensure the financial health of the project, the quality of project documents, claim prevention, team collaboration, and communication. Additionally, you will lead the cross-functional design disciplines in developing technical solutions.
What you will do:
  • Lead and mentor Reality Capture Specialists in your region, ensuring technical growth and project success
  • Communicate effectively with the Reality Capture Team to align priorities and workflows
  • Train staff on advanced scanning techniques and accurate building capture documentation
  • Operate, register, and process data from a wide range of 3D laser scanning equipment
  • Apply expert technical skills to evaluate building conditions and deliver precise, efficient 3D scans
  • Conduct regular QA checks of scanning work to maintain compliance with client and DLR Group standards
  • Participate in BIM kickoff meetings and contribute lessons learned in team meetings and training sessions
  • Manage project schedules and budgets to ensure scanning projects are delivered on time and within scope

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch), Engineering, or Survey degree; actively working toward licensure
  • 10-12 years of professional 3D scanning experience, inclusive of at least 5 years of project management experience
  • Remote Pilot Certificate (FAA Part 107 UAS Pilot License)
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Civil3D, InfraWorks, Recap, Navisworks, BIM360/ACC, and Dynamo
  • Experience with Point Cloud software such as Leica Cyclone/Register360, Field360, 3DR, and CloudWorx
  • Strong understanding of building documentation best practices
  • Knowledge of Level of Accuracy (LOA) standards for 3D Capture and Level of Detail (LOD) standards for BIM
  • Proven ability to manage and collaborate across multiple project teams concurrently

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CSI, USIBD, and Autodesk certifications (or actively working toward certification)
  • Experience with additional software tools such as NavVis, Leica, Esri, and Cintoo
  • Understanding of how to integrate emerging technologies into sustainable and environmentally responsible building design and construction
