Project Manager

Huntsman is seeking a Project Manager supporting the Division Name Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Capital Projects Team Lead.

Job Scope

We are seeking a driven and technically strong Project Manager to lead capital and expense projects at our Conroe site, supporting investments typically ranging from $200K to $10MM. This role is responsible for delivering projects following a staged gate process from Front-End Loading (FEL) through detailed design, construction, and startup.

As a key member of the Capital Projects team, you will partner closely with engineering, operations, and construction to ensure projects are executed safely and delivered on time and on budget. This position requires a hands-on leader who can navigate complex project challenges and drive practical technical solutions in a dynamic plant environment.

In summary, as the Project Manager, you will:

  • Lead project development from concept through FEL, including scope definition, cost estimating, and schedule development
  • Manage project execution through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, and contractors
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, scope, schedule, and cost objectives
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting across all phases of the project
  • Identify and resolve design, constructability, and field execution issues
  • Support construction activities, including contractor coordination and field problem resolution
  • Maintain project schedules, track progress, and manage changes and risks
  • Forecast, track, and manage project costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets
  • Develop project justifications and support stage-gate approvals
  • Communicate project status, risks, and key updates to stakeholders and site leadership
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritizing activities and allocating time effectively

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment, including 2+ years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects from FEL through construction and startup

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong ability to manage projects across the full lifecycle, from FEL through construction and startup
  • Hands-on technical problem-solving skills to address real-time project and plant challenges
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across engineering, operations, and construction teams
  • Proven ownership of project outcomes with a focus on execution, schedule discipline, and cost control
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical and project information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work in a dynamic plant environment with changing priorities
  • Experience working within a stage-gate project execution framework

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • PMP certification
