Job Description Summary:
This role serves as the functional leader for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) this role has functional responsibilities for processes, systems and methodologies to maintain the highest standard of safety, reliability of supply within Aviagen Operations.
Job Description:
Capital Program Management:
  • Manages cost, scope and risk in one cohesive process. Maintains control and visibility over projects to ensure they are operational on time and within budget.
  • Establish proactive partnerships with appropriate city, county and state economic development agencies.
  • Prepare Project Plans, including justification for major and minor capital projects.
  • Maintain complete project files including drawings, proposals, contracts, work-in-progress reviews, inspections, and communications.
  • Contributes to the preparation of each unit's budgeting process.
  • Partners with department and site leaders in solving complex design/ construction issues.
  • Ensure effective communicate with internal customers and leadership, external suppliers and vendors.
  • Provide pre-and post-startup assistance on projects to Maintenance and Operations to assure that all systems are functioning properly.
  • Environmental, Heath and Safety (EHS): Partners to develop deep working relationships with business operation leaders and functional experts to identify opportunities to improve business performance through ensured compliance, waste reductions and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and share best practices across all business locations.
  • Develop and maintain tools, templates, standards, processes and training and drive internal adoption through effective change management.
  • Develop and champion the implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
  • Drive improvements by interfacing at all levels of the organization and building support both vertically and horizontally.
  • Governance and Compliance:Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS): Organizational accountability for the development and deployment of cost-effective and compliant environmental, health & safety systems and programs.
  • Represents the business units in any necessary agency or regulatory interactions.
  • Ensures not only continued governmental compliance but engage and enable the organization to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Develop training materials to ensure each person impacting Aviagen's ESH performance is fully educated on their role and responsibility as it relates to these areas.
  • Prepare and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify, document and share best practices amongst all business units.
  • Drive effective and timely solutions to all audit non conformances.

Processes and Metrics:Capital Program Management:
  • Cost Management: Manage capital program budgets effectively. Including tracking the actual cost of projects against the budgeted cost, monitoring any cost overruns or savings, and analyzing the reasons behind any significant deviations.
  • Liasson with external insurance providers/workman's compensation/legal attorneys
  • Project Delivery: Deliver capital programs on time and within scope. Including tracking project milestones and timelines, assessing the quality of the final deliverables, and analyzing the reasons behind any delays or failures.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage relationships with stakeholders. Establish scorecards to measure stakeholder satisfaction levels, assessing the level of stakeholder engagement and communication, and analyzing the impact of stakeholder feedback on the program.
  • Business Impact: Measurement of the capital program's overall impact to the bottom-line including tracking the return on investment (ROI) of projects, assessing the impact of the program on the organization's revenue, and analyzing the long-term sustainability of the program.
  • Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH): Ensure assigned business units develop and maintain the capabilities necessary to support the company's ESH standards. Monitor Key Performance Indicators and ensure alignment with the annual operating plan.
  • Compliance rate: Percentage of the organization's operations that are in compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Incident rate: Year on year incident rate trend for environmental, health, and safety incidents that are best amongst the business group and considered world class for the industry.
  • Risk reduction: Evidence of implemented measures to reduce environmental, health, and safety risks within the organization.
  • Budget management: Demonstration of fiscal responsibility by meeting budget requirements. Thoughtfully plan and deliver and realistic and accurate budget each fiscal year.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop world class performance standards through optimizing and digitizing processes. Establish standard reporting tools to provide weekly and monthly reports to appropriate business teams.

Leadership:
  • Team Performance: This metric evaluates the senior leader's ability to manage and motivate their team effectively. It may include measuring team productivity levels, assessing team morale and engagement, and analyzing the impact of the leader's management style on team performance.Partner across business functions to recruit, mentor, and retain qualified team members.
  • Actively engage in day-to-day coaching.
  • Set appropriate measurable goals to establish performance expectations.
  • Hold team members accountable for results.
  • Recognize and reward performance as well as addressing issues and lack of results.

Required:
  • Supervisory or technical lead experience in one or more of key ESH programs
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and or directing ESH staff with documented results showing operational excellence in executing complex technical programs
  • Experience interpretation and applying standards, regulations or codes in ESH programs
  • Experience with EHS compliance oversight, documentation and corrective action development.

Desired:
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing a team.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Agri-Business or other programs with emphasis on occupational safety & health.

Experience
Required:
  • Experience implementing an occupational safety program, including processes, programs and documentation outlined by OSHA standards.
  • Capital Project Management experience in an agricultural or construction environment.
