Job description

Veterinary Emergency Associate Supervisor 

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to join our team as an Emergency Associate Supervisor. This role is ideal for an ECC doctor who enjoys practicing high-quality emergency medicine, mentoring other doctors, and helping shape the growth and consistency of a busy emergency and specialty hospital.
 
This position combines clinical emergency work with direct leadership of our ECC and Urgent Care associate doctors. The right candidate will bring strong emergency experience, sound clinical judgment, clear communication, and a genuine interest in supporting the professional growth of others.
 
About the Role

As the Emergency Associate Supervisor, you will: 
  • Practice emergency medicine as part of our ECC team
  • Provide direct supervision and support to ECC and Urgent Care associate doctors
  • Help guide clinical standards, communication, workflow, and team expectations
  • Participate in administrative meetings with hospital leadership and direct reports
  • Support doctor onboarding, mentorship, performance development, and ongoing education
  • Partner with specialists, nursing leadership, and hospital leadership to strengthen patient care and team collaboration
  • Balance ECC floor shifts with dedicated administrative time

Additionally, we are proud to have earned accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for our Emergency, Internal Medicine, and Surgery departments.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Massachusetts veterinary licensure
  • State and federal DEA licensure
  • Internship trained and/or at least 3 years of small animal emergency experience
  • Hands-on ECC experience, including overnight emergency work
  • Prior management, supervisory, mentorship, or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in developing associate doctors and supporting hospital-wide clinical goals
