Job description

Social Media Assistant - Online Marketing

Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is seeking a Social Media Assistant to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCE's Online Marketing department.

Applicants: please include any relevant social media work in a portfolio and list your expected graduation date on your resume.

Purpose within the Organization:

This person will be responsible for assisting with the development of content for GCU's official social media entities and monitoring online conversations about GCU.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

  • Posting advanced information about campus events.

  • Communicating important campus notices (i.e. parking advisories, housing information, finance, and academic deadlines).

  • Assisting with social media reporting and monitoring.

  • Designing graphics for GCU social platforms.

  • Attending GCU events to capture content, which includes but is not limited to photos, video, and general social content for GCU.

  • Copywriting - not limited to, but including caption writing, messaging for partners and campaigns.

Equipment Used and Responsibility:

  • Adobe Suite Products. Microsoft. Canva. Capcut. Editor.

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding writing, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of Canva or Adobe Creative Suite applications.

  • Must have experience creating original social media content.

  • Advanced knowledge of CapCut.

  • A sense of urgency for responding to student needs.

  • Understanding of the audiences you are communicating to/with.

  • The ability to develop appropriate responses with customer service in mind.

  • Advanced knowledge of Facebook, Twitter/X, Threads, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok

  • Advanced knowledge of AP Style.

  • Understanding of administrator functions in Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and TikTok.

  • Experience with Hootsuite or similar social media management tool is preferable.

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with writing for a brand is preferred.

  • Photography skills are a plus.

  • Can stay up-to-date with current memes, challenges, audio trends, and viral formats.

  • Knowledge of how to adapt trends to fit the brand or organization.

  • Valid Drivers License and Clean Driving Record

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon Education is committed to a student first policy.
Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.

  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.

  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
