Job description

Varstaff is looking for an Indirect Buyer III

Job Description

As an Indirect Buyer, you will manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for indirect categories, focusing on standard Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products, Engineering Technology/Information Technology (ET/IT) hardware, and aerospace-related materials or services. You will partner with internal engineering and IT teams, evaluate and select vendors, navigate specialized aerospace compliance standards, and execute cost-saving negotiations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute the full procurement lifecycle for indirect goods, including processing purchase requisitions, converting them into purchase orders, and issuing RFQs/RFPs.

  • Procure standard COTS products and manage distributor/manufacturer relationships to identify standardization opportunities.

  • Purchase ET/IT hardware (computing equipment, networking components, test equipment) and coordinate technical specifications with stakeholders.

  • Support aerospace-related procurement by navigating specialized quality certifications, traceability, and compliance standards.

  • Develop supplier relationships, negotiate favorable pricing and terms, and resolve delivery or invoice discrepancies.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with internal company policies, contractual terms, and audit requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of procurement/purchasing experience, preferably in an indirect buying capacity (Candidates with 3โ€“4 years of experience may be considered for a Level II role).

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience procuring COTS products and IT/technology hardware.

  • Strong negotiation and strategic supplier management skills.

  • Proficiency with major ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) to process requisitions and track procurement workflows.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and procurement compliance requirements.

  • Professional supply chain certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, or equivalent).
