Job description

Job Title: Sr. Manager, Production Engineering
Location: Metairie, LA
Position Overview: The Sr. Manager of Production Engineering leads the execution of production engineering deliverables, ensuring functional designs are translated into accurate, buildable, and sequenced production work packages that support efficient ship construction.
This role is responsible for driving day-to-day execution, resource alignment, and technical quality across production design teams. The Sr. Manager partners closely with Project Engineering, Functional Engineering, and Production to ensure engineering outputs meet schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
    • Production Engineering Execution
      • Lead the development of production engineering deliverables, including work packages, drawings, and installation products
      • Ensure translation of functional design into production-ready outputs that meet shipyard and program requirements
      • Drive proper sequencing of fabrication, assembly, and installation to support build schedules

      Team Leadership & Resource Management
      • Lead, coach, and develop production designers, supervisors, and support staff
      • Ensure appropriate staffing across programs, including employees, contractors, and external engineering services
      • Align team capabilities with program needs and identify gaps or development opportunities

      Cross-Functional Coordination
      • Partner with Project Engineering to align engineering execution with program schedules and delivery milestones
      • Collaborate with Production to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and executable in the field
      • Coordinate with Functional Engineering to ensure design integrity and compliance

      Technical Quality & Standards
      • Ensure production outputs meet company standards, contract requirements, and regulatory guidelines
      • Review and validate production deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and constructability
      • Support resolution of technical issues impacting production

      Performance & Continuous Improvement
      • Drive consistency in production engineering processes, outputs, and performance tracking
      • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and enhance throughput
      • Support implementation of standardized tools, processes, and best practices

      Training & Capability Development
      • Identify training needs and partner with leadership to develop team capability
      • Support onboarding and development of new engineers and designers

Qualifications:
Experience
  • 8-10+ years of marine engineering or related experience required.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required

Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong understanding of production engineering, shipbuilding processes, and design-to-build translation
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
    • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (ABS, USCG, etc.)
    • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
    • Focus on execution, quality, and continuous improvement
