Job description
Build a cancer center from the ground up!
Riceland Healthcare is opening a comprehensive cancer center in Beaumont, Texas, and we're looking for the person who will run it.
This is not a role managing an established department. Radiation oncology and medical oncology are both launching. The oncology team is being hired now. The person in this seat will shape the workflows, the staffing model, the referral strategy, and the patient experience from a blank page — and then own how it performs.
There are only a handful of jobs like this in the country in any given year. If you've spent your career operating inside someone else's system and wanted to build your own, this is that opportunity.
You'll report directly to corporate leadership and work alongside our radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, clinical team members, and executive leadership.
Cancer Center Development & Strategic Planning
- Lead the operational planning, development, launch, and expansion of Riceland Healthcare's comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Develop strategic and operational plans for Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Infusion Services, and future oncology programs.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish short-term and long-term goals for oncology service line growth.
- Identify opportunities for expansion based on community needs, referral trends, market analysis, and patient demand.
- Assist in evaluating new technologies, treatment modalities, and oncology service offerings.
- Develop standardized operational workflows and patient care pathways across all oncology services.
- Coordinate implementation of new oncology programs, equipment, and clinical services.
Radiation Oncology Operations
- Oversee daily operational performance of the Radiation Oncology department.
- Ensure efficient utilization of the Varian Linear Accelerator while minimizing patient wait times and treatment delays.
- Monitor treatment capacity, scheduling efficiency, equipment utilization, and departmental productivity.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, vendor support, and operational readiness of radiation therapy equipment.
- Support implementation of new radiation treatment techniques and technology upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards in collaboration with Medical Physics and Radiation Safety personnel.
Medical Oncology & Infusion Center Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the outpatient Medical Oncology and Infusion Center.
- Coordinate chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic therapy, supportive infusions, hydration therapy, and related oncology services.
- Monitor infusion scheduling, chair utilization, staffing efficiency, and patient throughput.
- Support implementation of chemotherapy safety protocols and medication administration workflows.
- Ensure seamless coordination between oncology clinics and infusion services to provide timely patient care.
Cancer Center Operations & Facility Management
- Oversee daily operations of the Cancer Center, including patient access, registration, scheduling, front office operations, and clinical coordination.
- Develop and maintain efficient workflows that support a positive patient experience.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and operational efficiency across all oncology departments.
- Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and survey-ready clinical environment.
- Oversee procurement of oncology equipment, supplies, and operational resources.
- Coordinate vendor relationships, equipment maintenance agreements, and technology upgrades.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for administrative and clinical support teams.
- Partner with Human Resources to recruit, onboard, and retain highly qualified oncology personnel.
- Support employee engagement, coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care.
- Promote teamwork across Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Imaging, Surgery, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and ancillary services.
Multidisciplinary Care Coordination
- Coordinate multidisciplinary collaboration among Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Pathology, Laboratory, Home Health, Hospice, Rehabilitation, Nutrition, and Palliative Care.
- Support multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and clinical case conferences.
- Ensure coordinated patient care across the entire oncology continuum from diagnosis through survivorship.
- Promote timely communication between physicians, clinicians, and support departments.
Financial & Business Management
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the Cancer Center.
- Monitor departmental expenses, revenue performance, reimbursement trends, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and financial reporting.
- Monitor key business indicators including patient volumes, treatment volumes, infusion utilization, physician productivity, and service line profitability.
- Develop business plans to support sustainable oncology program growth.
- Prepare operational reports and performance dashboards for executive leadership.
Quality, Compliance & Accreditation
- Ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, state regulations, radiation safety standards, and oncology-specific regulatory requirements.
- Support preparation for oncology accreditation programs such as Commission on Cancer (CoC), ASTRO APEx, and other applicable standards.
- Monitor oncology quality metrics, operational KPIs, patient outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
- Support peer review, quality improvement initiatives, risk management, and patient safety programs.
- Maintain survey readiness and regulatory compliance across all oncology operations.
Referral Development & Physician Relations
- Partner with Marketing and Physician Relations to strengthen referral relationships throughout Southeast Texas.
- Develop referral growth strategies with primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, and regional healthcare providers.
- Monitor referral trends and identify opportunities for increased patient access and market expansion.

- Support cancer awareness campaigns, educational seminars, screening programs, and community outreach initiatives.
- Represent the Cancer Center at professional organizations, healthcare events, and community meetings.
- Promote Riceland Healthcare as a regional leader in comprehensive cancer care.
Patient Navigation & Supportive Care
- Support development of patient navigation services to improve care coordination from diagnosis through survivorship.
- Coordinate timely access to consultations, imaging, treatment planning, radiation therapy, infusion services, and supportive care.
- Collaborate with social work, nutrition, rehabilitation, palliative care, home health, and hospice teams to ensure comprehensive patient support.
- Promote initiatives that improve patient education, communication, and overall experience throughout the cancer journey.
