Job description

Off the Trails Vacation Rentals and Campground is looking for a highly organized candidate with excellent people skills. This candidate has a passion for giving outstanding customer service and can always greet people with a smile. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and the ability to learn and manage reservation systems. A flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings and weekends are requirements.

The best Guest Services / Front Desk Clerks have tremendous patience when dealing with guests by addressing their needs and questions with enthusiasm and poise.

General Summary:

As an Off the Trail representative, you will be responsible for greeting customers with a smile and a happy, outgoing personality! Key priorities include welcoming customers onsite or greeting customers on the phone, assisting potential customers with their reservations using reservation software, checking arriving customers in by completing detailed paperwork and giving clear directions to their campsite or vacation rental property, and answering lots of questions. Exceptional customer service and greeting customers with a smile is extremely important in this role because people come here to have fun!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers in a positive and approachable manner
  • Administer check-ins and check-outs
  • Complete liability paperwork for customers to be able to access their lodging
  • Accurately process payments and make change 
  • Assist in maintaining a clean work environment and well-stocked store
  • Answer phones, lodging questions, and guide customers in their selection of the best campsite or vacation rental property for their stay, all with a pleasant voice and kind approach
  • Create customer reservations using the Off the Trail reservation system
  • Accurately handle customer funds and process transactions using the POS system
  • Remain constantly aware of customer activity to ensure a safe, secure, and pleasant store environment
  • Be a source of information for guests on matters of lodging, area/directions, and the Badlands Off Road Park
  • Diffuse conflict or tense situations with guests
  • Ensuring that all rules of the facility are adhered to and all of the proper documentation is collected from guests before they enter the campground/housing
  • Other duties may include: event participation, receiving, and more
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to maintain an effective and profitable lodging operation

Position Requirements

Availability: This is a part-time position. Weekends, Holidays, and Evenings are required

Education: High School Diploma or GED is required

Experience: No experience is necessary, but experience working in retail, hotel, restaurant, grocery, or similar environments is helpful. Ability to follow directives and interpret retail operational guides as assigned

Physical Requirements: Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work outside in the elements when required

Skills and Competencies: Excellent Customer Service Skills; Strong Interpersonal Abilities; Detail Oriented; Strong Computer Skills with the Ability to Learn and Use Reservation Software Programs; Self-motivated; Strong Organizational, Communication, and Problem Solving/Decision Making Skills; a Team Player

*Ability to fluently speak both Spanish and English to better serve our Spanish speaking customers is a huge plus
