WHAT YOU WILL DO


IN THE CLASSROOM AND ON THE PLAYGROUND

You will design and maintain a learning environment that reflects TRF's Guiding Philosophy, one that is flexible, child-centered, and responsive to what children need and care about. Specifically, you will:

  • Create spaces that promote curiosity, inquiry, and independent thinking.
  • Adjust the environment regularly based on the interests and evolving needs of the children in your care.
  • Ensure the classroom reflects children's actual learning, not just decoration.
  • Plan and deliver experiences that challenge children to think critically and explore deeply.
  • Incorporate activities that honor and nurture the cultural identities of the children you serve.

SUPPORTING YOUR TEACHING TEAM

This role is collaborative by design. You will work alongside Teachers to keep the program running safely and effectively:

  • Complete daily ratio counts with your Teacher to ensure children are always accounted for and properly supervised.
  • Promptly flag any concerns that need immediate attention to your supervisor.
  • Assist in identifying and reporting any signs of child abuse to your supervisor and/or the Child Abuse Hotline.
  • Support daily health checks covering hygiene, safety, and the overall well-being of each child.
  • Assist Teachers with DRDP-R assessments twice a year for school-age children, including completing a summary of findings annually.
  • Participate in classroom and parent conferences following each DRDP-R completion.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

A NOTE ON THIS POSITION

This is a seasonal role supporting TRF's summer programming. Scheduling and specific site assignments will be coordinated through your Site Director.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

AA degree with 12 semester units in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or Recreational Courses, including core courses (Child/Human Growth and Development, Child, Family and Community, Program/Curriculum).


Additional Requirements:

  • Criminal background clearance with (FBI, DOJ, and CAI)
  • Complete a physical examination, T.B. test, proof of immunization for (influenza, TDap, and MMR),
  • Submission of satisfactory proof of your identity and your legal authorization to work in the United States. If you fail to submit this proof, federal law prohibits us from hiring you.


Compensation: $20 to $23 per hour
