Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department Days position at a Level 1 trauma, stroke, and burn center requiring at least 1 year of Level 1 trauma ED experience.
Details
- Work in a 68-bed Emergency Department within a hospital setting
- Level 1 Trauma, Stroke, and STEMI center with a regional burn center
- Patient ratios routinely 4:1, though ratios may vary during surge or other circumstances
- Day shift schedule, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Weekend hours required as needed by facility
- No call requirements
- No floating requirements
- Uses EPIC EMR system
- Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week
Requirements
- Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS from AHA only, plus TNCC
- NIHSS certification required, though candidates may be considered without it if obtained prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience in a Level 1 trauma facility or 2 years in a Level 2 trauma facility, must be indicated on resume
- Trauma/pediatric experience preferred
- Experience with high-acuity patients and high patient volumes (200+ patients/day) preferred
- Must demonstrate clinical expertise and strong human relations and communication skills
- Ability to stand and walk for most of shift
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs, and pinch up to 15 lbs
- Ability to minimally kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
- Evaluate overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
- Work in a busy urban trauma center recognized as one of only two Level 1 trauma centers within a 50-mile radius
- Facility holds Joint Commission Stroke Certification as a Primary Stroke Center
- Ideal candidates are determined, decisive, and flexible
- Black scrubs required; unprofessional attire and jeans are not permitted
- RTO requests must be made up during the assignment and will not be approved during the first week
- Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
