Job description

Wyyerd is seeking a Network Operations Specialist to assist across all areas of network deployment and customer installation. Additionally, assisting with procurement and tracking of network related inventory. This position plays a critical role on the Network team, whose primary goals are to deliver the most advanced telecommunications services in the market, while optimizing costs and providing an outstanding end-to-end customer experience.

About Wyyerd

Wyyerd is a subsidiary of Wyyerd Group headquartered in Surprise, AZ offering services in the North West Valley. Wyyerd is a fiber-to-the-premise internet and related services provider offering a full suite of products for residential, business, enterprise, carrier and non-profit customers including government and education entities. If you are interested in a fast-growing company with a collaborative team culture and a strong belief in treating customers like the friends and neighbors that they are, Wyyerd may be the right place for you.

About This Role

  • The Physical Build: Lead the physical installation, racking, and stacking of network equipment—specifically Juniper, Calix, and Ciena hardware—in service cabinets, data centers, and underground vaults.

  • Tier 2/3 Technical Support: Act as the advanced escalation point for our Install and Activation teams. When field issues get complex, you provide the troubleshooting and solutions.

  • On-Call Rotation: Maintain the integrity of our 24/7 network. This role requires an on-call rotation element, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays to respond to outages or critical maintenance.

  • Network Deployment: Assist in the end-to-end deployment of IP and PON infrastructure—from the warehouse to the "live" cabinet.

  • Tactical Logistics: Manage the procurement and tracking of network inventory (SFPs, line cards, cabinets). You’ll ensure we have the right gear in the right place at the right time.

Physical Requirements
  • Field Access: Ability to work in varied environments, including underground Controlled Environment Vaults (CEVs) and outdoor equipment cabinets.

  • Mobility: Comfort working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and navigating utility easements.

  • Lifting: Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs (racking routers, switches, and power supplies).

  • Manual Dexterity: Precision in cable management, fiber cleaning, and hardware installation.

Experience/Qualifications
  • Hands-On Experience: 1+ years in network operations with a focus on physical installations (racking, cabling, power management) and hardware lifecycle.

  • Hardware Familiarity: Direct experience or working knowledge of Juniper (routing/switching), Calix (PON), and Ciena equipment.

  • Technical Literacy: You know your way around IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, and BGP, and can apply that knowledge to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues.

  • Inventory Master: You are highly organized and can manage equipment logistics and inventory systems without losing track of the details.

  • Proximity: Since this role is heavy on physical site visits and emergency response, you must live in close proximity to our office/market. The successful candidate must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Tucson, AZ prior to their official start date. Please note that relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
