Job description

Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Global Commodity Manager to join our team. This Senior Level role plays a critical part in Calix product development and is responsible for formulating, communicating, and executing the Strategic Silicon sourcing strategy. The role enables our competitive advantage by supporting cost optimization, supply continuity, and continuous improvement initiatives. A fully remote option is available if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end procurement strategy for silicon technology and key commodities by partnering with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to align sourcing plans with technical roadmaps.
  • Develop and govern supplier relationships through structured business reviews, negotiations, and performance management.
  • Proactively drive cost reduction, value engineering, supply assurance, inventory flexibility, and risk mitigation to support production execution and long-term supply resiliency.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to reduce the cost of mechanical commodities while maintaining or improving quality.
  • Support and expand supplier risk management systems, BOM risk reduction solutions, and materials risk mitigation strategies while maintaining data integrity.
  • Resolve roadblocks to production readiness and support execution during production.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of senior category management or strategic sourcing experience, with deep technical acumen in semiconductors.
  • Proven track record of leading and closing multi-million-dollar negotiations and structuring complex, long-term supply agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and influence decision‑making.
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience in data analysis and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in a Technical or Engineering field.
  • Existing relationships with Tier 1 suppliers of SoC, FPGA, or Wi‑Fi chips.
  • Familiarity with the Information & Communications Technology industry.
Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range varies by geographic location:

  • San Francisco Bay Area: 170,200 - 255,300 USD Annual
  • Other US Metropolitan Areas: 148,000 - 222,000 USD Annual
  • Other US Locations: 133,200 - 199,800 USD Annual

Individuals may be eligible for a bonus. Additional benefits will be discussed during the recruitment process.
