ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently seeking a Lead Organic Chemistry Research Associate. The selected candidate will conduct and be involved in all aspects of the organic synthesis projects taking place in the laboratory, and in assisting undergraduate researchers under the supervision of Dr. Thomas J. Osberger, Principal Investigator.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
  • Perform all aspects of organic synthesis research.
  • Search the chemical literature to identify experimental procedures.
  • Plan and execute organic synthesis experimental.
  • Analyze reaction mixtures using thin layer chromatography and GC/MS.
  • Purify reaction products using techniques such as extraction, recrystallization, and chromatography.
  • Collect spectroscopic data including IR and NMR spectra on reaction mixtures and purified products.
  • Manager laboratory waste and inventory.
  • Assist undergraduate researchers.
  • Ability to adhere to regular work schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field.
  • Organic Chemistry research experience.

PREFERRED:
  • Master's degree in chemistry or related field.
  • 1-2 experience in organic chemistry research.

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
